Thank you for choosing our iQuest for your students.
This iQuest is aimed for
VELS LEVEL: 3
AUSVELS LEVELS: 3 and 4
(Grade 3 & 4)
Length of Unit: 8-10 weeks
Learning Intention:
The aim of this unit is for students to be able to think about the actions they do in their daily lives, and what impact their actions will have on the environment and animals living in these environments. We want the students to independently be able to stop and think about their actions and behaviours and be aware of any changes they should make in hope that it will help protect and conserve the endangered animals and surrounding environments. During this inquiry unit students will be investigating endangered and extinct species, causes of endangerment and extinction, conservation campaigns and projects and how to spread awareness to their local school community and be able to contribute to the care and improvement of their local environment.
With the rich task being an awareness poster we hope that this allows students to learn about voicing their opinions and messages about a meaningful and realistic topic that they believe in and are passionate about. This task allows a lot of freedom of choice so they are able to choose the theme for their awareness poster but also keeping to a certain criteria.
This iQuest we believe caters for the many diverse learners of the classroom. The variety of tasks allows for different learners to participate and we hope to have made this iQuest as engaging as possible. Even though we have stated some tasks to be done individually, discussion between peers should be allowed and seen as a positive as this allows an opportunity for students to have a chance to share ideas, information and resources and provide assistance to those students who may need help.
